Role Summary/Purpose

GE Transportation is a global technology leader and supplier to the railroad, marine, drilling, wind and mining industries. Due to ongoing growth & the significant commercial opportunities across sub Saharan Africa, GE Transportation is looking to source a dynamic Regional Sales Manager to lead the commercial strategy & achieve growth across French Africa.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for sales & commercial leadership for GE Transportation across French Africa.
  • Business and sales growth leadership responsibility for the entire Rail product portfolio including; new locomotives, parts, services, locomotive modernizations, signaling and our Rail Solutions products and services.
  • Responsible for setting and delivering on the orders and sales targets.
  • Develop customer strategies, campaign plans, and lead their execution.
  • Develop influential relationships with assigned customers at all levels and develop strategies to win profitable business from those customers.
  • Coordinate the technical support team, including contracts, finance, product support, and others in the implementation of customer strategies.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with all regional railways and other customers.
  • Review pending railway regulations and new product requirements and ensure GE input on these regulations/ requirements.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with shareholders of key rail customers and relevant shareholders to understand scope and timing of new French African Railway developments to enable GE to actively participate.
  • Develop relationships with new private rail operators/ locomotive owners to ensure GE's participation in their locomotive procurement processes.
  • Develop relationships with mining companies that own and/ or operate/ require locomotives. 


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (strong preference for candidates with master's degree)
  • Commercial experience (sales or marketing) within an industrial & safety critical sector (railways, oil & gas, mining, marine, energy, machinery, aerospace etc.)
  • Demonstrable ability in leading multi-functional teams (finance, marketing, proposals, product support etc.)
  • Strong record of success in developing influential customer relationships
  • Proficient at creating plans, sales strategies, presentations, and proposals
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience working across French Africa
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Flexible regarding business travel
